WHY ARE CORE WEB VITALS SO CRITICAL IN GOOGLE'S MAY 2021 ALGORITHM UPDATE
Last month, May 2021, Google released a critical algorithm update. This latest release could impact every website, primarily if errors and other page-type issues are not adequately addressed and corrected. For example, Google now has greater control over a website's visibility on search results, including its ability to drive organic traffic.
In other words, if Google doesn't like your website or it gets flagged for poor page performance due to coding errors, you may begin disappearing from search results altogether.
What does Google look for with its algorithm?
Google has never informed us of exactly how they rank websites and content pages. However, they do allude to and provide SEO best practices for marketers to have a foundation to build on.
With the latest release, Google has requested several updates to crucial UX (User Experience) fundamentals. As a result, this requires an update to many of the established SEO best practices we've used for years. This request from Google is why we had to update the code found on your website. For example, moving forward, they will begin to evaluate technical aspects such as:
- load time
- page stability
- mobile-friendliness
Please inform us if you happen to spot any cosmetic blemishes or non-performing functions. These may be the direct result of our code updates. Although we quality test before launching, code can get broken in the process. If you happen to find any errors, please let us know asap.
In addition, beginning this month, Google will start to determine the quality of the content you publish as it crawls your website.
How OUR CLIENTS & marketing partners WILL benefit from Google's latest release
One vital aspect of Google's latest update is how they target your website's page experience. In other words, Google is beginning to evaluate your page's performance using a page type ranking formula known as EAT. Although we don't know much about it, what we do know is it tries to answer these content questions:
- Display expertise?
- Is it authoritative?
- Is it trustworthy?
Fortunately, your existing content already answers yes to all three questions. For example, your expertise is growing online because it is backed by relevant and well-written industry-focused content, including referenced content that links to reputable sources and partners. As such, your online authority will continue to keep growing.
With these changes, I feel when you combine Google's changes with our content marketing strategy— there's potential to grow your business at a more rapid pace. Likewise, you'll grow as a trustworthy resource by Google. As a result, they will reward your website through improved search result rankings and increased organic SEO traffic.
